This was our last day, and the heat was intense. We woke up naturally, enjoying a relaxed morning before heading out to Forest Eco Park, which was within walking distance from our hotel.

Eco Park
The Eco Park is a lush green space that feels like a close encounter with nature. While the climb wasn’t too challenging, the paths were lined with scenic views and the occasional wildlife. On one of the trails, we encountered a group of wild monkeys. They were quite aggressive, and both us and another foreign tourist had to hurriedly run back to safety.

Afterward, we visited the Royal Selangor Center, a place dedicated to showcasing Malaysia’s traditional pewter craftsmanship. It’s not just a museum but a hands-on experience where we could try making our own pewter piece.

The history of tin mining in Malaysia has had a deep impact on the land. As early as ancient China, many Chinese traders and prospectors came to Malaysia’s Perak and Kelantan states to mine tin. Malaysia’s tin resources were once among the richest in the world, attracting a large number of Chinese immigrants and foreign merchants. The tin industry became an integral part of Malaysia’s history, shaping its unique culture and economy.

For lunch, we indulged in a delicious meal of grilled fish and Indian Tikka lamb skewers at a nearby Indian barbecue restaurant. Afterward, we made our way to the airport, ready to head back to Shanghai. Although our flight was delayed by half an hour, the air-conditioning at the airport provided some relief from the 30°C heat of Malaysia as we transitioned back to Shanghai’s 5°C chill.

Looking back on this Malaysian trip, every stop, every sight, every taste filled us with a deep appreciation for this land’s diversity and vibrancy. From the historic streets of Melaka to the modern pulse of Kuala Lumpur, from savoring traditional Malaysian cuisine to embracing the local street culture, this trip was not just sightseeing, but a cultural journey.
